Warning: Revealing details for Episode 3 of this adventure lie ahead.

The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced

The third episode finished on a major cliffhanger and presented the premier party of adventurers who will branch out from the central cast to embark on their own adventure, separate from the remaining groups.

The Soldiers table includes the determined fighter (brought to life by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (Laura), Tyranny (Whitney), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).

Dividing the Cast

Given 13 cast members, it was obvious from the start that maintaining everyone at the same party would be impossible.

Hence, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, intertwining the individual narratives before branching into three distinct groups: Warriors, Schemers, and Questers.

The Nature of the Warrior Group

As described by the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for players who enjoy a classically intense combat and conflict-driven narrative style where peaceful solutions are few and far between.

Initially, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander might seem out of place, but the developments of episode 3 make it clear why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the combat party.

Why They Must Go

To begin with, the group knows exactly where to proceed after a violent initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.

An old friend of the deceased character—whose death kicked off the story’s plot—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, entering the hidden lair, attacking the character, and taking all the magical artifacts to sell off.

The antagonist then settled his debts and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.

Character Drivers

Secondly, each adventurer has a individual motive to leave the city the metropolitan area:

  • The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, desires vengeance.
  • The adventurer has experience in the region and warns that it is a nasty location.
  • The strong character and Wicander, having resisted his family’s wishes to eliminate the target and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
  • But, their reputation as important members in the powerful family could enable the group access areas they usually can’t.
  • Additionally, The grateful character swore a life debt to Wicander for his rescue and will now accompany him wherever.

Pursued by Authorities

In addition, all of them are hunted by the rulers that rule the setting for a multiple motives, making lingering locally too risky:

  • The agile adventurer and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
  • The warrior and The healer betrayed the influential house and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
  • The fighter is marked for death by the clan.

This means them little choice but to journey toward Timmony in pursuit of the traitor.

Future Episodes

From the latest episode’s post-show segment, we find out that the combat party won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight cast members to round up the Explorers and Strategists tables.

Fans can look forward to learning which characters will be where in Campaign 4’s concluding setup installment, available to watch on October 24.
